Senior 3D Character Animator

Job description

Expanse is looking for experienced and skilled Senior 3D Character Animators to work on a live action film with photo realistic 3D animated characters (ref. Christopher Robin and Paddington). The candidate will follow directions from the Animation Supervisor, but is also expected to collaborate with the rest of the animation team to achieve the Director’s vision. The project offers creative challenges, advanced animation and a great looking end result.

It is possible to work remotely for this position.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To animate compelling performances within assigned shots

  • A strong sense of character animation; facial animation and body mechanics

  • Realistic animation is preferred and should be demonstrated in a demo reel

  • Work from an animation handout and create feature leve, key-framed animation

  • Collaborate with the Animation Supervisor to find great performances

  • Hit animation deadlines established by production

Qualifications and skills

  • Professional experience animating realistic characters in live action productions

  • A passion for action and performance

  • Strong knowledge of the principles of animation

  • Extensive knowledge of Maya

  • Good understanding of real world physics

  • A team player who is proactive and solution-oriented

  • Ability to work systematically and efficiently

  • Able to make independent choices

  • Likes a challenge

  • 5-7 years of experience

  • High school / University

  • Good English skills, both orally and in writing

Availability to start asap - The feature film will premiere in the Norwegian cinemas this christmas.
